Declen is 4 weeks old! (and his due date is next week!)
Declen's Stats:
- Length: 20 inches
- Weighs: 9 pounds 2 ounces
- Eats: nursing every 2 hours.
- Diapers: size 1 diapers
- Clothes: size 0-3 month
- Sleeping: approximately 20 hours/day. He is still sleeping in the pack-n-play in our room, but he has pretty much outgrown the newborn napper part, and he usually ends up co-sleeping with me at some point during each night because of the nighttime feeds.
- First Bath: at 2 weeks (11-30-13). He didn't seem to mind the bath but he did NOT like getting out (until I introduced him to the hair dryer which was the perfect fix for the cold). Landen and Brayden enjoyed getting to "help" with the bath; actually, Brayden tried to climb in on top of Declen and was completely devastated that we wouldn't let him.
- First Trip to Church: on 12-1-13. He got to meet, be prayed on, and a picture taken with Pastor Chris (who just happened to be at our campus the same day)!
- First Thanksgiving: We had a great time celebrating Declen's first Thanksgiving with Keith's family and then again with my family.
- First Party: on 12-8-13. Keith's mom (Memaw) held a Welcome Home Declen Party/Graduation Party for Keith.
- First Graduation: on 12-10-13. Declen (and everyone else in the family) got to attend his daddy's Doctoral Hooding Ceremony (aka Keith's Graduation as a Doctor of Physical Therapy) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham!
- Likes: Nursing and cuddling with mommy.
- Dislikes: Car rides, hiccups, diaper changes, sudden loud noises, and going potty.
The adjustment...
Landen and Brayden are doing really well with the new baby. Landen is very gentle and sweet to Declen. Brayden is very sweet too, but gentle isn't exactly in his realm of comprehension... We cannot take our eyes off of Declen when Brayden is around! Brayden has attempted to "help" Declen by climbing on top of him, shoving a paci in his face, pulling him off the couch, giving him love smacks/whacks (instead of love pats), etc. It's super obvious that Brayden loves Declen, but Brayden isn't even 2 years old yet and is accustomed to playing with his older brother! Brayden also gets a little jealous when mommy holds the baby, so he tries to climb on top or to push Declen off my lap. Both boys will say, "It's okay baby" or "You're okay Declen," and rub his head when Declen starts crying.
I have a BUNCH of pictures to upload, but I forgot to bring my flash drive...
